Rock band «Joy Of Cooking» appeared in 1967 in Berkeley, located in the San Francisco Bay. «Joy Of Cooking» - one of the first group, which is led by a woman. This pianist Toni Brown and guitarist Terry Garthwaite, who founded the group. Tony composed almost all material groups - both words and music, and Terry was the main vocalist. The group has come a long and difficult way to record their first album in 1971. At first, they played at school parties and parties. The first professional stage «Joy Of Cooking» provided a nightclub «Mandrake's» Berkeley - solid ground, considering that there were such kings blues as Sonny Terry And Brownie McGee, Muddy Waters And His Blues Band, and others. In 1969 " Joy Of Cooking »played there quite often on the weekends, and these performances strengthened the glory as of the group and the institution, which traded primarily jazz and blues. At first, there were incidents. Sometimes drunken men jumped onto the stage and took the girls tools with the words: "You should not be here. Your place is in the kitchen - cook. At the time of signing a record deal with the «Capitol Records», the girls were 32 years old, the male half of the group was younger - up to 30, only percussionist Wilson knocked 37.
