Three of the original band members "The Big Three": Adrian Barber (lead guitar), John Gustafson (bass, vocals) and Johnny Hutchinson (drums, vocals) first got together in Liverpool in 1958 as part of "Cass And The Cassanovas" , whose leader was singer Bryan "Cass" Kasser. They played in the workers' clubs of Liverpool and the surrounding area, in 1960, made a tour of the city north, accompanying singer Duffy Power, visited Hamburg and disbanded in January 1961, when Cass decided to perform solo. Remaining three, Barber, Gustafson and Hutchinson took the name "Big Three" (as were all under two meters tall) and continued to perform, with the repertoire, mainly cover versions of American soul- and blues artists (often virtually unknown at home ). Their spectacular scenic supply, aggressive sound and perfect sound (Barber had a talent for electronics and he was making all the equipment group) quickly made "The Big Three" of one of the main attractions of the local scene. In July 1962 Group received engagement at the Hamburgs "Star Club", and since out there were practiced grueling lasting many hours speeches, the musicians decided to expand the composition of. The fourth member of the group was guitarist-singer Brian Griffiths of "Howie Casey And The Seniors". However, a month later, the hosts offered Barber to become technical director of the club, and he stayed. "The Big" again began to "Three". That's when "The Beatles" would replace the drummer, and Hutchinson had a moment to touch their glory, playing with them one concert in the club "Majestic" in Birkenhead in August 1962. Barber worked in "Star Club" until the end of the 60s. He wrote down all the speakers there musicians (including the famous farewell concert "The Beatles" on the night of the New 1963), produced several studio recordings, in 1968 moved to the US a few years was a staff producer "Atlantic Records". By the end of 1962 a group of "The Big Three" became the most popular in the city: in a survey of readers of the newspaper "Mersey Beat" in 1961, they were just the seventh, then the next year, came to the final third, second only to "The Beatles" and Lee Curtis ! In November 1962 their manager became Brian Epstein, two months later, he organized a group contract with "Decca", and in March, "The Big Three" released their debut single, "Some Other Guy", which climbed to the 29th row, making them third (after themselves "The Beatles" and "Gerry And The Pacemakers") hitmakers from Liverpool. In 1963, "The Big Three" twice noted in the charts: with "By TheWay" (№ 23) and "I» m With You "(№ 53), however, these pop songs is hardly reflect the true face of the group; much more interesting turned out to be of their a concert mini-album «Live At The Cavern», which included rigid, almost hard-fateful version "Peanut Butter" group "Marathons", "What'd ISay" Ray's Charles and "Reelin 'And Rockin'" Chuck Berry. Epstein was trying to get the musicians to change their overly aggressive (in his view) image, but "The Big Three" proved resistant, and Epstein lost interest in them. Frustration at the rapid success proved for the group fatally - in November 1963 Gustafson and Griffiths had left her, reorganizing "Seniors", but a year later parted: Gustafson went to "Merseybeats", and Griffiths collected "Griff-Parry Five". Yet "Big Three" for long extended their existence: the remaining Hutchinson complemented Paddy Chambers (guitar) and Bill 'Pharaoh' Ruffle (vocals, bass) of just disintegrated "Faron's Flamingos". Group continued to play a in clubs northern counties, but the days of mersibita were already numbered, and in October 1964 Hutchinson decided to dissolve a trio of, and soon and at all left the show-business. Of the former members "Big Three" only one John Gustafson became famous for real: he later played in various groups, including "Hard Stuff", "Roxy Music" and others recorded with Rick Ueykmenom, Ian Hunter, Shirley Bassey and many others. In addition, he participated in the recording of the original version of the rock opera Rice and Webber's "Jesus Christ Superstar". In 1973, Gustafson, Griffiths and drummer of Elton John Nigel "Ollie" Olson revived the name "Big Three" and fired on the "Polydor" unremarkable album "Resurrection", and then parted. In the mid 80's musical heritage "Big Three" have been collected arhivistskoy company "Edsel".
